Q: toys + space + children = ?
A: playtime revolution!

|
OPENING STATEMENT At an increasingly early age computers are stealing our children's right to real playtime. For the last 10 years whilst providing technical computer support in schools, homes and other small businesses, we have seen examples of this on a daily basis.
Paul and Janine Truswell have been inspired, partly by the recent television series "James May’s Toy Stories", to start an indoor play space serving the age range 3 to 11 to
“nurture and encourage imagination through real playtime”
The majority of housing in this country no longer provides adequate room
for indoor play, and it is this combined with the saturation of
technology into homes which has led to the current poor state of play in
the UK and elsewhere in the western world. Technology does have a place
but there is a serious imbalance of its role in society that needs
redressing. In essence; computers, Xboxes, Playstations, Wiis and
Nintendos need relegation. We cannot do much about the size of people’s
houses but we can provide big spaces and good playtimes again. CONCEPT To provide large, purpose designed, indoor playzones; clearly defined areas where different toys can be played with to their fullest extent, managed by dedicated adult teams; examples as follows...
TRANSPORT ZONES: Roads – Scalextric, Hotwheels Railways – Tomy Thomas Train, Scale railways Canals – purpose built miniature canal system with working boats CRAFT ZONES: Jewellry Pottery Wood Painting Plasticine BUILDING ZONES: Meccano Lego K'nex GIANT GAME ZONES: Monopoly Carcassone Chess Dominoes Jenga
ToySpace will also provide space for parents and carers to relax and enjoy company, have a drink, eat light meals and watch the action in the playzones. There will also be the ability to host events such as parties, concerts and relevant product promotions. ToySpace catering will be supported by local and Fairtrade suppliers of goods and services. toyspace
